1How to play
- Pick a deck — there are 28 of them, from Films & Series to Emojis to Accents & Impressions.
- Choose a round length, then hold the phone against your forehead, screen facing your friends.
- They act it out. Tilt down when you guess right, tilt up to pass.
- When the timer runs out you'll see your score and every prompt from the round.
2Common questions
The game is stuck in portrait▾
Act Up is landscape-only by design. If your device is locked to portrait, open Control Centre (iOS) or Quick Settings (Android), turn rotation lock off, then reopen the app.
Tilting doesn't register▾
Tilt uses your device's motion sensors. Check you granted the motion permission — on iOS look under Settings → Act Up. Also tilt through a decisive angle rather than a small nudge; a gentle tip often isn't enough to trigger it.
Can I play offline?▾
Yes — completely. Every deck is bundled into the app. There's nothing to download, nothing to sign into, and it works fine in airplane mode.
What languages are supported?▾
English, Arabic, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. All 28 decks are fully translated in every one of them. Switch language in Settings.
Can I add my own words?▾
Yes. Create a custom deck in the app, name it, and add as many prompts as you like. Custom decks live on your device and play exactly like the built-in ones.
Recording a round isn't working▾
Round recording is currently iOS only. It needs camera and microphone permission, plus photo library access to save the result — check Settings → Act Up if you declined any of those. It also needs free storage; a full device will make it fail.
How do I delete my data?▾
Your settings, custom decks and recordings live only on your device; deleting the app removes them (recordings you saved to your photo library stay until you delete them). The app also sends anonymous usage events and your subscription status, keyed to a random device id, never your name. Deleting the app discards that id. Full detail, including how to ask us to delete matching data, on the privacy page.
How do the free rounds and Act Up Pro work?▾
You get 3 free rounds a day, refilling at local midnight. Act Up Pro removes the limit and is an auto-renewing subscription (weekly with a 3-day free trial, or yearly) bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel any time in your store account: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel. Reinstalled? Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings. Refunds go through Apple or Google. Full terms on the Terms page.
I found a wrong or offensive prompt▾
Tell us the deck and the prompt and we'll fix it in the next update. We'd much rather hear about it than not.
3Report a bug
Email us with these and we can usually fix it fast:
- Your device and OS version (e.g. iPhone 15, iOS 18.4)
- The app version — bottom of the Settings screen
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- A screenshot or screen recording if you can grab one
4Accessibility
Act Up supports system text sizing and respects the reduce-motion setting. If something about the game is hard to use, tell us — that's useful feedback and we do act on it.
